Maintenance free and dry running shaft seals

In industry new sealing systems are always developed and used. Our sealing system has been introduced since several years in general industries as well as in the chemical industry and has proved to be a success. As dynamic seals above all sealing lips made of modified PTFE are used.
The advantages of modified PTFE are:

• High chemical resistance
• High temperature resistance, up to 250°C
• High resistance to pressure

As a result of special combinations of different materials our seals show great advantages compared to traditional axial face seals and stuffing-box packings

• Absolute maintenance free
• Dry running up to 6 m/s
• No sealing liquid, omittance of pressure blocking aggregates
• Adaptation of all prevailing conditions occurring in chemical process engeneering
• Important price advantage compared to expensive axial face seals

Due to the advantage that nearly all technical conditions as to construction ca be considered, different sealing systems have been developed which are introduced below. The conversion to existing machines and plants can be carried out for the most part without problems. Already existing construction spaces can be used up.

Our sealing system is among others used in:

• Agitators
• Driers
• centrifuges
• conveyor worms
• cellular wheels sluices
• etc.

Of course all technically required materials can be used. 
All sealing cartridges are completely assembled and delivered ready to be installed.

Dry running shaft seals
Maintenance free

The advantages:

• No sealing liquid
• High chemical resistance
• High temperature resistance, up to 200°C
• High resistance to pressure
• Maintenance free

Basically all our pharmaceutical and food induatry sealing systems are running with white, FDA- compliant sealing lips (MAF 288).

Due to the advantage that nearly all technical conditions as to construction ca be considered, different sealing systems have been developed which are introduced below. The conversion to existing machines and plants can be carried out for the most part without problems. Already existing construction spaces can be used up.

All sealing cartridges are completely assembled and delivered ready to be installed.

The new ATD sealing system              up

The new ATD-sealing system is provided with a core piece, the SMA-module. This ring consisting of an elastic elastomere is the joining piece between seals and casing wall.

The SMA-module provides a connection between casing and seal on a hole circle. Thus, no dead spot is created as this is the case with other common sealing systems. Therefore, this sealing system is particularly suitable for application in the pharmaceutical and food industry. (SMA - Shaft Move Absorber) The dynamic seals consist of modified PTFE. Upon request also with FDA-approval.

Since however, with mixer-settlers, conveyor worms, drying apparatuses and mixers, owing to the bearing of the shafts, undesired shaft motions occur, the PTFE sealing lips are not suitable for such applications.

In the new ATD sealing system these PTFE sealing lips are guided by two deep groove ball bearings. By means of these ball bearings all undesired shaft motions are kept away from the sealing lips and are carried away via the sealing casing into the elastic SMA module.
Due to the possibility of using different materials, an application in all technical fields is possible. The new ATD-sealing system is suitable for pressures up to 2 bar.
     

Maintenance free shaft seals – Floating seal with below              up

The "floating shaft seal" is used where shaft deflections or shaft bendings conditional upon machines occur.
This shaft system is coordinated to the shaft as complete seal unit. By using the two deep groove ball bearings the sealing lips are guided accurately such that shaft motions of each kind do no longer charge the sealing lips. All the shaft motions are carried away via the deep groove ball bearings and the casing into the bellow.

This ATD-System is suitable for pressures over 2 bar.

The sealing illustrated below shows one of our most recent developments. This sealing system has been developed upon customers`s request which represents an optimum coordination between shaft bearing and shaft sealing
Contrary to normal face seal rings with incorporated spherical roller bearing exclusively pre-set tapered roller bearings are used. Preset means that the bearing play within the tapered roller bearings is determined by a corresponding dimensioning of the adaptor rings before installation. The bearing play depends upon the operating conditions.
As a matter of principle the tapered roller bearing units are installed in "O" arrangement. By means of this "O" arrangement one reaches an important efficient bearing distance and thus a high stiffness of the shaft within the sealing. Consequently no shaft deflections occur within the shaft seal and the sealing lips are guided exactly.
